To see your messages, click 'Inbox' on menu to access your inbox. Messages in your inbox will be kept for 20 days.
Once you are logged in, go to 'Inbox'. Check the box next to the message(s) you would like to delete and click on 'Delete Selected' below. Alternatively, you can delete a message when viewing it by clicking on ‘Delete’ located next to ‘Reply’.
In order to block a user from messaging you, you must have a message from them in your inbox. To block them, click on a message they have sent you and click 'Block User' on the right side of the page. If the user has not sent you a message or if you deleted their message, you will not be able to block them.
To unblock someone, click on any message in your inbox and click on 'Users I Blocked' on the right side of the page. Then click 'Unblock User' next to the username of the user you wish to unblock.
The only way you will know that you have been blocked is if you try to contact someone who has blocked you. You will see a message that reads "You have been blocked by this user. Find someone else ".
You may also be blocked from messaging users if you do not meet their messaging criteria shown at the bottom of their profile (ie. age, gender) - these settings are found in Mail Settings.
To update your mail settings, go to 'Edit Profile', then 'Mail Settings' and adjust your settings accordingly.
You can limit who is allowed to make a first contact with you by setting the following options:
1. Gender
2. Country
3. Age
4. Distance from your location
5. Length of message
You can restrict the following categories by selecting the appropriate boxes.
1. Looking for: hang out, dating, friendship, etc.
2. Users who: smoke, are married, have messaged other users for intimate encounters, etc.
You can turn off the New Message, Added to Favorites, and Events notifications by going to the 'Mail Settings' page and selecting your preferences.
Unfortunately, you cannot turn off the latest matches emails usually sent out on Mondays and Wednesdays. If you mark these emails as spam or junk, all other PlentyOfFish emails will be affected and you may not receive important notifications.
If you notice that a message is missing from your inbox, it is likely due to one of the following reasons:
1. If you see a blank username in your inbox, this means the user has deleted their account.
2. If the user has completely vanished along with all messages that means they were deleted by the system.
3. PlentyOfFish blocks cut and pasted messages.
4. The message may be over 20 days old. Our system will have automatically removed it.
To attach your image to a message, you must send a long format message. To do this, click 'Send Message' the user you wish to message. At the bottom of your message you will see thumbnails of your images. You can check the images you wish to attach to your message.
From your inbox, scroll to the bottom of your messages and find that user's username in the drop down menu. Select the user whose messages you wish to view and click 'View All Messages'. Your entire correspondance from the last 20 days will appear.
If your messages are not being sent, it could be because:
1. The recipient has mail settings restricting you from contacting them. There may be restrictions you cannot see listed on their profile.
2. If you copy and paste the same message repeatedly to numerous users, or you are using bad language, our spam filter may restrict your messages.
3. Are you using the Quick Reply feature? If you are, be sure to click 'Send Quick Reply' when you are finished writing. If you simply click REPLY, you will be directed to the long message reply feature and your message will be lost.
4. Your profile may have been flagged for review and be in quarantine. If you cannot receive messages, add favourites, or are having trouble logging in, please wait 48 hours and try again.
PlentyOfFish users have the option to restrict contact from users who have sent messages to users looking for Intimate Encounters.
Once you have contacted users who are looking for Intimate Encounters, you are restricted from contacting members that have this feature in place.
